The children from FWT’s Nambikkai Illam enjoyed a a grand day out with a visit to Queens Land, a theme park in Poonamallee, Chennai, India.
Each year, the children who live at our Nambikkai Illam homes eagerly anticipate their annual trip to a local theme park, Queens Land. By the standards of Orlando or Thorpe Park, it may be rather tame but for these children it is a fantastic day to enjoy all sorts of fun and excitement far different from the usual daily routine.
This year the trip was financed completely with donations from “old boys”, in recognition of all that they owe to Nambikkai Illam when it was their primary home and in a desire to give the current children a great day out!
It’s great getting wet!
In India, children swim and play water games fully clothed – the heat means that it’s easy for things to dry and no danger of catching a chill!
Chance for a chat while the children play
Sumathi, the boys’ home assistant warden, and Vani, the girls’ home warden, enjoy a quiet moment while the children are otherwise occupied!
All together now…
Each year a big group photo is taken and a print put on the wall in the children’s homes. They love to look at all the old photos, trying to spot their younger selves, friends and those who have left since the photo was taken.
